Ready-to-use Notion template that tracks startup KPIs, burn rate, and operational milestones in one dashboard. Perfect for founders managing growth.

These prompts work best with Jasper AI or Copy.ai

Your startup has 47 metrics scattered across spreadsheets, bank statements, and mental notes. This operations tracker consolidates revenue, expenses, runway, team milestones, and growth metrics into one dashboard that updates your burn rate automatically and flags when you hit critical thresholds. This is not for established companies with dedicated ops teams — it is for founders who need to see everything in under 60 seconds every Monday morning.

What this template does

Replaces the manual process of pulling numbers from Stripe, bank accounts, payroll systems, and product analytics into a weekly founder update email. When you open it, you see current runway months, monthly burn rate, revenue growth rate, and team headcount in a single dashboard view. After one week of daily updates, it auto-calculates whether you are trending above or below your growth targets and surfaces the 3 most critical metrics that need attention.

How to use it week by week

  1. Every Monday at 9 AM: Open the Core Metrics database. Update Current Value for each metric from your source systems. Change the Date Updated to today. If any metric shows Critical status, add it to your weekly priority list.

  2. After updating metrics: Check the Runway Calculator view. If Runway Months drops below 12, update the Monthly Expenses field with any new planned spending. Screenshot the dashboard and paste it into your investor update template.

  3. Every Wednesday: Review Team Milestones due in the next 7 days. Change Status to Blocked if any milestone cannot hit its Due Date. Send the Blocked items list to your team lead.

  4. Before any board meeting: Filter Core Metrics by Progress less than 75%. These become your “Areas for Improvement” talking points. Export the Runway Calculator as a PDF for the appendix.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Runway Months formula shows negative numbers when I am profitable

This happens when Monthly Revenue exceeds Monthly Expenses, making Net Burn negative. Change the Runway Months formula to show “Indefinite” when Net Burn is negative, since positive cash flow means unlimited runway.

Should I track daily active users or monthly recurring revenue first?

Start with cash-based metrics: Monthly Burn Rate, Cash in Bank, Monthly Recurring Revenue. These determine if your startup survives the next 6 months. Add user metrics after you have 8 weeks of financial data trending correctly.

Add one-time costs to Monthly Expenses only in the month they occur. For the following months, revert to your baseline monthly spending. This gives you accurate runway without artificially inflating burn rate.
